Compression Quality Warning

PDF compression works by reducing image resolution, optimizing font embedding, and applying lossy compression algorithms. Depending on the compression level chosen, this may result in:

  • Reduced image clarity — photos and graphics may appear less sharp, especially at higher compression levels.
  • Lower print quality — compressed PDFs optimized for screen viewing may not print well at high resolutions.
  • Font rendering differences — some fonts may be subset or replaced, causing minor visual changes.
  • Color shifts — lossy JPEG compression may introduce subtle color artifacts.

Text, Link & Form Loss Warning

In some cases, aggressive compression may affect interactive elements of your PDF:

  • Hyperlinks may be removed or become non-clickable.
  • Form fields (fillable text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns) may be flattened or lost entirely.
  • Digital signatures may be invalidated or removed during processing.
  • Bookmarks and table of contents may not be preserved.
  • Annotations and comments may be stripped during processing.

Preview Recommendation

We strongly recommend that you always:

  1. Download and open the compressed PDF in a PDF viewer (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview, or your browser).
  2. Page through every page to verify text readability, image quality, and layout integrity.
  3. Check interactive elements — click links, test form fields, and verify bookmarks if present.
  4. Compare with the original to identify any unintended changes.
  5. Keep a backup of your original uncompressed PDF in case the compressed version is not suitable.
